It is the historic testimony of Taiwan’s agricultural blossom then. Along with the change in times, barns and traditional agriculture have all declined. Therefore, how to combine agricultural landscape, river ecology and cultural memory of village is the essential issue of reusing and planning Xiluo Old Barn.

This case is developed by the concept of local agriculture of Oryza Sativa, which is deeply related to the barns. This case uses the barn to be a seed to spread out the space of stem and rice. By the projection of dike, this case prevents the sandstorm from the northeast monsoon with the way of extended landscape of rice’s root, combining historic building with culture. Also, it makes more intermediary space with light and shade. The internal function of intermediary space is embedded in cultural creation to activate the traditional industry, spreading out the landscape space of stem, and connecting the base and high riverbank, trying to connect the local culture and natural context, and to give the barn a new life.

[1
